Well-made baton and very sturdy. Shipping was very prompt as well. I took one star off because it was not balanced very well, and that is an important quality in conducting batons.

Yamaha Wood Padded Wood Bench for Piano Playing Review

Yamaha Wood Padded Wood Bench for Piano Playing
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This is supposed to match the DGX 630/620 and YPG 635/625 series digital pianos/keyboards. Even though Yamaha "makes" it (they list the WB2 on their site, but probably outsource it), the colors on this are way off from the piano, and do not match the picture. In fact the legs of the bench are actually a different color than the top portion that supports the padding. The legs have a very distinct orange tint that clashes with the top and with the piano, even when viewed from a distance. The top portion is much closer to the correct color, but the manufacturer must have decided to use a cheaper material for the legs. Also, the seat cushion material is not a tan color, as the picture indicates, but instead has a greenish tint to it. I swear I'm not color blind! My wife took one look and thought it was hideous and I'm now returning it. I don't normally do many product reviews, but I really think it's a crime that this says it is a matching bench.
Other than the color, it seems to be very sturdy and well made. That's the only reason it got 2 stars from me instead of one.

Akai Pro MPK mini Review

Akai Pro MPK mini
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
If you have spent any time reading the reviews of the LPD8 and the LPK25, rest assured you can apply them to this product as well. The MPK Mini is literally a combination of the LPD8 and LPK25; nothing less and nothing more. Which is a great thing if you've been considering both!
This is my first MPC product but I am an experienced keyboardist. The Pads are pretty nice. I enjoy how they light up when you hit them. Like others said regarding the LPD8, they aren't as sensitive as some might prefer, and I'm inclined to agree. It tends not to register some of might lighter hits, so I'm having to get used to how hard I have to hit it. No big deal. It's also nice to have the knobs. They aren't as nice as professional grade knobs, but they work nicely for such a compact unit. The keyboard has mini keys and they are very sturdy. Some complain that it feels like a toy keyboard. Of course it does, they are mini keys! The keys are fine for their purpose of capturing ideas. I do not consider them performance worthy.
For those comparing this to other 25 key midi controllers, please know what you are comparing. There's a reason this is $100. It's simply a combination of two other products. Don't complain about the lack of pitch/mod wheels. The purpose of this product is portability and to allow you to capture ideas when you don't feel like lugging around larger equipment. For these reasons, I find it to be an excellent product.
Definitely pick this product up if you're looking for something extremely portable with acceptable mini keys and very playable MPC pads.

Yamaha PA130 AC Adapter Power Supply Review

Yamaha PA130 AC Adapter Power Supply

I have a PSR-195 that had a busted adapter that was no longer available on the Yamaha website. I read that this adapter would be compatible for that older adapter, ordered it on a whim, and was happy to find that not only did it work perfectly--it also was smaller than the older plug and used up less energy. :3 Can't beat that. Still, I reinforced the head of the plug with duct tape to reduce any chances of stripping--which was the reason I had to throw out the last adapter. I'm glad I bought this--it saved me from losing my trusted keyboard!

Casio WK-3800AD 76-Key Electronic Keyboard with Power Supply Review

Casio WK-3800AD 76-Key Electronic Keyboard with Power Supply
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
The Casio WK3800 is a fun and very versatile keyboard with good quality onboard speakers. My previous keyboard, which I still have, is an older Yamaha PSR series. The WK3800 gives you a good deal of control and "fine tuning" for each of the preset digital voices/tones (e.g., attack/release, touch response, reverb, vibratto, resonance, octave, pan, equalizer, and other effects, which can be saved as new user tones ... and then mixed (using layer and split) onto the keyboard and saved as an entry in the register. You can monitor/record on several separate tracks of and, later, put them all together for a rich composition playback. The only downside with recording to the separate tracks is that you lose the layer/split functions during recording (a small hassle that I hope the next series of Casio keyboards will rectify). If you would like to have a layered and split recording (four tone settings used), you have to record each of the four tones separately (i.e., record yourself playing your song four times). This limitation of the record function is the only reason I did not give the Casio WK3800 4 stars out of 5, instead of a perfect 5.

Yamaha QT1 Quartz Metronome, Teal Review

Yamaha QT1 Quartz Metronome, Teal
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I bought this metronome after I'd been playing a number of years, and quickly this became my personal favourite for a number of reasons. First, the colour makes it really easy to find when you're packing up your things, so you're less likely to lose it. Second, the adjustable volume control means that you can gradually fade out the metronome sound. Third, the flashing light I found particularly useful when practicing in the choir loft with the organ and organist at the other end of a church. The light enabled both of us to keep time without being confused by the heavy reverberation and the length of time it took the sound to travel. Fourth, the adjustable sound, volume and flashing light means that for an ensemble with some timing difficulties, it can be used extremely discreetly in a performance, with no-one in the audience the wiser. Fifth, the 9-volt battery it runs on lasts for ages, and is easily replaceable even at the most inconvenient place and hour. All in all, if you don't need the bells and whistles of different tunings, or something to tell you what beat in the measure you're on, or you're just looking for standard metronome, it would be hard to beat this one for the features.
I did find one of the two settings for the click to be not as useful as the other, but this may be a function of the partial hearing loss that is a common occupational hazard among musicians. Still, it's nice to have the choice! This has lasted me for more than ten years and I have to say that it's a first-rate product. I'm pleased to see that it's still available.

This metronome's great looks are only surpassed by its great performance. Volume control allows you to hear the beat over loud music, and two different "beat" sounds make for pleasant practice sessions. You can even turn the volume off and just follow the flashing red indicator light. The QT metronomes feature a compact design with quartz accuracy.

Yamaha PSR-E423 61-key Touch Sensative Portable Keyboard with 482 Voices Review

Yamaha PSR-E423 61-key Touch Sensative Portable Keyboard with 482 Voices
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I bought this item as a reserve for concert and home use. I already have and use Yamaha MM-6, Roland A-70 (Midi Keyboard), Kurzweil SP2XS and I can compare this item to others. My previous synth (for home use) was Casio CTK-691 and it was cheap. It was so cheap, I can't use it's output connector because of the noise.
So, Yamaha PSR-E423 have a pretty tight company. It provide a solid sound with a vary little noise level (but still more than the competitors). The sounds are... not so good as in MM-6 or Kurzweil, but it's much better than in Casio -- this must be the best sounds for the price, but still have a reserve of improvements. I think, yamaha can safely delete 400 of 500 sound and use the free memory to improve quality of the remaining 100. For example, Acoustic Grand Piano (Yamaha pride) have a metallic sound for the notes upper than F2).
The keyboard and a functional elements are quite good -- the keyboard looks and acts like in MM-6, two knobs are the same as in MM-6 and also can be used as a resonance filter, or to adjust the synth parameters. That's interesting, but I can't find a puporse for it. I never ever use sequencer or lessons -- don't ask about them. Harmony, arpeggio are working as expected, styles are not as expressive, as in MM-6, primarily because of too few variants. Again, this is not the point I use it for. The keyboard is easier to use, than a MM-6 or Kurzweil -- because of a big screen with an options shown on it and a digital pad that doesn't exist on MM-6 (except transpose and split point functions -- they are deep in menu). Comparing to Casio, it is also easier -- because some of the features are accessible with a special buttons, without scrolling the menu.
The keyboard have an USB connectivity and provide a standard midi-over-usb interface, so I don't need any drivers. Be warned, that the keyboard does not have any MIDI ports!
Overall score is: the best sounds for the price with a full set of features. Pro: touch-sensitive keyboard, pitch bend, kontrol knobs, arpeggio, harmony, tap tempo, USB-to-computer, clean output, 6-channel sequencer. Contra: sounds can be better, transpose functions are hidden in "functions" menu, no MIDI connection, accessories are sold separately.

Good piano sound, plays like a real piano, has good choir sound, the string sounds could be better, especially when blending with the piano. And then there are all the MIDI sounds that I didn't realize came with it, and I still haven't gotten to the bottom of all the features.
I like the way the often-used functions are laid out as buttons, that is a good design and a good implementation.

Like all fine instruments, the CP 300 simply begs to be played. Sit down with one, and the instrument becomes an extension of your hands and your musical imagination. The authentic piano voices and rich expressiveness come alive at your touch, and the sound is big enough to blast through a full band onstage - yet nuanced enough to work magic in an intimate club.Yamaha's extensive experience in crafting fine acoustic pianos helps us in creating the ultimate digital pianos. Our advanced Graded Hammer Effect (GHE) action gives all keys an authentic resistance that increases from the top register to the lower - just as on an actual acoustic piano. Which means that you can naturally pound out thunderous low notes with your left hand and let the fingers on your right dance and fly with the high notes. In crafting the authentic sound of the CP series, we used meticulously recorded stereo samples of top-quality instruments, taken at various playing strengths, and included subtle elements such as String Resonance, Stereo Sustain, and even Key-Off Samples that capture the felt dampers muting the piano strings - providing the most authentic sounding and finely nuanced acoustic piano voices possible. The CP stage pianos are also master keyboard controllers that give you full command of your gear. Play and control external tone generators. Assign different voices to different keyboard sections and create multi-textured layers of sound. Four instrument Zones on the CP300 with panel sliders, let you easily tweak the level of each instrument as you play. You can also freely reassign the sliders and wheels to control other sonic characteristics of your gear, such as sound attack, decay, brightness and filter cutoff. The CP300 features professional quality balanced XLR output connectors. These give you the cleanest, clearest noise-free signal - both for serious recording in the studio, and playing onstage where long unbalanced cables may compromise your sound.

One of our top-selling sheet arrangements of this famous piece. Canon in D is the most famous piece of music by Johann Pachelbel, written in or around 1680 as a piece of chamber music for three violins and basso continuo. Robert Schultz's faithful setting is for the intermediate pianist. Tasteful use of arpeggios, rolled chords, and dynamics brings out a rich, sonorous sound that evokes the original string arrangement. Perfect for weddings, recitals, or any other special occasion.

Williams Overture 88 Key Digital Piano Review

Williams Overture 88 Key Digital Piano
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I'm certainly not a professional, however, I do know what a piano is supposed to sound like, and I know the difference between a Harpsichord, Organ, and a Harmonica: 'nuff said.
First of all I would like to say that the Williams Digital Piano is by far the best instrument I have ever owned, next to my toy, an old Casio keyboard that I owned for quite some time, I was happy to finally sell that off in a garage sale. When I went hunting for another piano, I took my Sony headphones and headed off to various stores with digital pianos. This one by far sounded the closest to a real upright piano (Well, the Yamaha was closer, but another 1K more expensive...), and it had the features and look I was wanting.
Pros ---
1. The weighted digital piano keys mimic perfectly the hammer-action of a real piano, and the sound is equally amazing. As I said I tested it out in headphones, and even at home in total silence the headphones are clear as anything and sound perfect. The built-in speakers that are attached to the piano work equally as well. I 'tested' it note-for-note, unplugging my headphones and listening to the built-in speakers, and I can safely say that I don't hear a difference at all. No "fuzzy-sounds", no buzzing, no humming, etc. Sounds nice.
2. After listening to several Harpsichord songs, I played a few notes on the piano to compare. So far I can't tell the difference between the notes played in the song and the ones I played on the piano.
3. Same with the Organ and string setting, both sound equally realistic and about as close to an acoustic piano as I'm going to get without spending thousands of dollars.
4. I actually bought this piano online, yes, from Musicians Friend. No, I am not an employee there, nor have I ever heard of it. I did call them up to see how exactly it was going to be mailed. I mean, sure it is less than 1K for the digital piano, but I wanted to make sure it wasn't going to end up in several pieces on my doorstep. I have to say the piano box arrived in no less than perfect condition. Go with Musicians Friend if you are going to buy this!Cons ---
1. Okay, so again I'm new at this. So, of COURSE I played the Play-Along songs while I waited for my real books to arrive. One of the irks I have is that when you use the digital piano to listen to the play-along songs, be forewarned that it is MUCH louder than when you are playing the piano normally. Also, if you are trying to play along, you have to compensate the volume by turning it down to hear the song correctly, but I also had a hard time hearing what I was playing on the piano!
2. Same thing goes with the metronome. It is MUCH louder than the 'volume' of the piano. If I had to change something, it would be how loud the Metronome sounds as compared to the piano. The volume, when recording songs and playing them back, however, is at the 'same volume' as the piano. Don't know if it is just my piano or what, but listening to the Play-Along songs and using the metronome is quite annoying.
3. I'm a computer programmer. I bought this piano because it came with a USB cable, anddd I thought I could use my computer knowledge to retrieve the songs off of the Williams Digital Piano. Not-so-much. There is no way to get the recorded songs off of the piano, the only thing the USB cable does is transmit the MIDI messages to a computer if you have the correct software installed. For me, kinda pointless.
Well, I think that about sums it up. Oh yeah, well, I don't think that this is a "Con" per-se, however: this piano comes disassembled. Which means that you have to assemble it. Fine, but the problem lies: this piano does not have instructions included to tell you how to assemble the piano. I, personally, was able to assemble is promptly. However, at first it was irksome laying out all the pieces and figuring out what goes where.
