This is an awesome accordion because it has keys. The only problem is that the keys stick right out of the box. The price is good so what can you expect. We still like to play with it.

Roll A Piano Electric Piano Review

Roll A Piano Electric Piano
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I love this hand-roll piano but that's not why I made my second purchase in as many months. I bought the second one for research. The reason is that when I opened the first piano it smelled strongly of chemicals for three days. Although the fumes from "off-gassing" (like the new car smell) have no discernable effect in small amounts, their effect on vulnerable people is unknown. My son has a chromosomal anomoly and played with the piano every waking hour for the first day. That night he went into a mental tailspin from which he's still recovering, three weeks later.
The fumes were probably from a solvent used in the manufacture of the resin coating the rubber. Many such solvents have been banned for use in the United States but there are no controls over how imported products are manufactured.
I like China, but, yes, the first piano was manufactured there from a firm that has since disappeared. It would not be surprising if they used a cheap but dangerous form of solvent. I have not yet opened the box of the second one, since I want to caputre a sample of the fumes. But the lesson here for other purchasers is to thoroughly air the piano outdoors until any chemical smell is gone. The product shouldn't be dangerous after that. There's no lead issue.

Korg MA-30 Ultra Compact Digital Metronome Review

Korg MA-30 Ultra Compact Digital Metronome
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This is chock full of features and hands-down the best budget portable metronome on the market, with only one caveat which'll be mentioned later. A terrific buy for students.
Battery life is great, getting around 200 hours out of two AAs. The display is clear and easy to read. I've dropped it once and it didn't cause any problems. For a digital metronome, the beep isn't an irritating chirp as some other metronomes tend to be.
It can generate any tone on the chromatic scale for manual tuning, and even allows you to adjust the pitch slightly away from A440 if you need to (sometimes necessary, especially for wind players playing outdoors in the extreme cold)
It can handle 1 - 7 beats per measure, and can give you triplets, 8ths or 16th notes on top of that.
It has a handy tap feature to determine tempo.
This isn't perfect, it's not a Dr. Beat (the best metronome on the market, period). The volume control is very sensitive, and if you have it in your pocket you can easily accidentally blast your ears with headphones on. An LED would be a nice addition.
The caveat mentioned earlier is this: Most people prefer a dial to adjust tempo as opposed to the up and down buttons of this model (The Matrix MR500, MR800 and the Seiko SQ50 have less features and lack a volume control, but do have a dial and LED). Still, for the price and the features, you can't beat it.

Sophisticated Rhythm Patterns 13 different rhythms are built-in to this electronic metronome so you can practice to more than just a click track. Rhythms include duplets, triplets, triplets with inner beats omitted, quadruplets, and quadruplets with inner beats omitted are programmed into this digital metronome
Reference Pitches The MA-30 features twelve reference pitches (C4 -B4) for tuning on the go, with adjustable calibration of A4 from 438-445 Hz.
Tap Tempo The MA-30's tempo adjusts from 40 to 208 BPM. You can also use the tap function for setting the tempo manually.
Adjustable Volume and Headphone Output Adjust the metronome volume to your liking, and use the earphone jack so only you can hear the sound.
Power Efficient Get approximately 250 hours of continuous digital metronome use on two AAA batteries.
Ultra-Portable The MA-30 weights in at just .17 lbs. (including batteries), and is small enough to fit in your pocket at 4.09 x 2.52 x 0.59 inches (W x D x H).

beautiful wood, only had to tune one key easy to do, beautiful product, hit any key and there is music, portable. Sounds like Tiki Tiles.

The thumb piano originates in Africa. It is also known as the mbira or likembe. The metal keys are mounted on a wooden box that acts as the resonating chamber. Longer keys have lower pitches and shorter keys have higher pitches. The keys can be adjusted by tapping them in or out to adjust their pitch. Many different tunings are acceptable, according to personal preference. Similar tuning is only an issue when two instruments are played together; then they should generally agree in tuning.

We had the first and second book in this series. My daughter in 5th grade used the first book to learn keyboard--no prior music lessons. My son - 7th grade went right to the second book and did well (he had two years of lessons in a different instrument). We continued with the series because we liked the layout of the lesson plan. The series is very easy to use for even a young child if you start with book one.

Yamaha PA130MM 120 Volt Keyboard AC Power Adaptor Review

Yamaha PA130MM 120 Volt Keyboard AC Power Adaptor
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Does exactly what the description says, however in the long run, it's just a very average AC power adapter that can be replaced by any 12V generic one. The cord is too short, I'd estimate around 5-6 feet, so you may have difficulty playing your piano if it isn't up against the wall. (Additionally, it will serve as a tripping hazard if your piano is positioned 3-4 feet away from the wall.)

Grover-Trophy Pitchpipe Piano Tuning Hammers, Star Head Review

Grover-Trophy Pitchpipe Piano Tuning Hammers, Star Head
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Okay, he couldn't have been...must have been one of those European-made pianos with non-standard-sized pegs.
No. He's right. This tuner doesn't fit: loose on some pegs, not even close on others. From looking at the star head, it appears that some of the points are rounded off while others aren't; this may be why the tuner fits on some pegs and not others, depending on their orientation.
The wooden handle was also split two inches back from the ferrule.
All around, this is not a well made tool and I would not recommend that you take a chance on it.
On the other hand, the merchant, WWBW, is outstanding and very helpful. Their handling of my complaint was above reproach. I will do business with them in the future.
UPDATE: I exchanged this tuner for a square-ended one. It works acceptably, but still slips some on a few of the pegs. I won't complain, however, since the square-end hammer does get the job done.

Yamaha DGX640C Digital Piano, Cherry Review

Yamaha DGX640C Digital Piano, Cherry
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
First off, I'm not sure why the other reviewer gave this product only a 3/5 rating... admitting he is not a pianist and is unfamiliar with pianos in general, I hope other potentials buyers do not read his review as an expert opinion.
As a working and studying musician, I have spent a lot of time around acoustic and electronic pianos of many types/brands. I'll admit, I've never been a huge fan of some Yamaha grands, but this product was impressively different. The hammer action of the weighted keys is much fuller than other electronic keyboards I've played, the speakers are very clear and pretty powerful, and the stand and pedal set is a great compliment to the instrument! And aside from the piano sounds, the other instruments are pretty great and fun. The range of possible applications of this instrument is huge!
Also as a composer, I love the USB ports that allow you to hook up to your computer. I can input notes into my notation software with the simple press of the appropriate key, which is very helpful when creating large/long pieces.
One thing to think about when considering an electric piano is that no synthetic piano will be the same as an acoustic. While some instruments -like this one, the Yamaha DGX-640- come close, nothing can replace the feel and response of a real piano. So the best advice I can offer is to, if you can, go to a store somewhere and experience the difference for yourself. Even though it can't replicate the feel of an acoustic 100%, it doesn't mean that you can't still find a quality product.
I recommend this piano to anyone! And with it's wide range of possibilities there's room for a lot of fun and productivity.

M-Audio ProKeys Premium Stage Piano Review

M-Audio ProKeys Premium Stage Piano
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
The Piano sound is truly the best sound you can find for even under $1000, and this is only $500.
Thats the good news.
The other sounds are ok, the organ sounds being the worst, and the electric piano being the best non-piano sounds. The worst part (and the reason i wouldnt buy it again) is the touch. If you plan on just pounding out chords, itll be fine, but if you play classical, jazz, or even most pop-styles that require a bit of touch, you will hate this piano. They say it is "Hammer-Action" but really they should be called "way-over-weighted". These are the heaviest keys i have ever played, and I wish i would have played it before i bought it online.

Click Here to see more reviews about: M-Audio ProKeys Premium Stage Piano

The ProKeys 88 is the premium digital stage piano that doubles as a great MIDI controller. It's loaded with large, realistic samples 14 world-class instruments in all, including split/layer capabilities. We paired those great sounds with an 88-key hammer-action keyboard, delivering a realistic feel to satisfy the most demanding pro. The ProKeys 88 is also a great master controller keyboard, including a built-in USB MIDI interface for easy direct connection to your PC or Mac, MIDI In and Out jacks to communicate with other MIDI gear, pitch and modulation wheels, sequencer controls and more. ProKeys 88 pulls out all the stops in creating the ultimate playing experience in an affordable digital stage piano.

Ultra-Realistic Piano Our goal in designing the ProKeys 88 was to create an extremely musical and realistic piano experience. The caliber of a digital piano is greatly influenced by the quality and the size of the samples, so we started by giving the ProKeys 88 a generous amount of memory. Then, rather than dividing it up amongst a bunch of sounds you're not likely to use, we focused on the 14 sounds that are the bread and butter for many keyboardists--paying special attention to the stereo grand piano.

More Than a Stage Piano The ProKeys 88 delivers all the staple keyboard sounds needed by many musicians. Its flagship stereo grand is supplemented by an alternate grand designed to really cut through in popular music. The ProKeys 88 has electric pianos covered too. And the Clavinet brings one word to mind: "funky." Acoustic and electric basses give you the option of layering a ride cymbal for jazz tunes. Vibes, ensemble strings and an inspiring warm, lush synth pad round out a great sonic palette for the gigging keyboardist.
88-Key Hammer Action Of course, a realistic digital stage piano must have a full 88 keys that are properly weighted. The ProKeys 88's full-range clavier features hammer action that feels just like the real thing. It features three velocity curves tailored to different touches, as well as a fixed velocity for synth work.
Splits and Layers The ProKeys 88 keyboard also features split and layer capabilities. Put a bass in your left hand and keys in your right. Chord with an organ while playing a piano lead. Layer lush strings over a piano. You can even have a split and layer simultaneously for a total of three sounds at once.
Control Your DAW When it comes to communicating with the outside world, most digital stage pianos offer little more than a MIDI jack. In sharp contrast, the ProKeys 88 inherits much from M-Audio's years of experience pioneering mobile MIDI controllers. It incorporates a full USB MIDI interface that communicates with your PC or Mac via a single, simple USB connection--perfect for recording with virtually all MIDI sequencer software on the market. (The instrument features class compliancy with Windows XP and Mac OS X without installation of additional drivers.) You can even control your sequencer remotely via front-panel Start, Stop and Tempo buttons.
MIDI In and Out jacks allow full communication with all standard MIDI gear as well. The ProKeys 88 also features performance controls that are rare on digital stage pianos, including pitch wheel, modulation wheel, two footswitch inputs, and expression pedal input. The three different ranges available via the ProKeys 88's combined split and layer functions can each transmit on a separate MIDI channel as well. You also get dedicated front-panel buttons for program change, channel, bank MSB, bank LSB and local on/off.
Built-in Effects There's no need to mess around with additional gear to add basic effects to your ProKeys 88. On-board EQ lets you easily tweak the tone on the fly. You also get three different built-in reverb spaces that simulate different acoustic environments. Chorus fattens up sounds like the electric pianos and basses. And what's a vintage Wurlitzer electric piano without tremolo? Experiment with different effects on the ProKeys 88 to create signature sounds of your own.
Full Pedal Complement Every digital piano has a sustain pedal jack. But what about the sostenuto pedal (the middle pedal on an acoustic piano)? ProKeys 88 has it. There's also an expression pedal for foot-control of volume. And all three of these pedals serve as MIDI controllers for outboard gear as well.
Headphones and Pro Audio Outputs Ever need to practice privately? ProKeys 88 includes a 1/4-inch stereo headphone jack so you can play without anyone else hearing you--at home or at a sound check. Of course, it wouldn't be an M-Audio product without high-fidelity 1/4-inch unbalanced audio output with specs like 20Hz-20kHz frequency response and 108dB dynamic range.
What's in the Box ProKeys 88, Software Driver CD (drivers and applications), USB cable, Printed User Manual, Power supply (12V DC), Sustain Pedal

Yamaha PKBX2 Double X Portable Keyboard Stand Review

Yamaha PKBX2 Double X Portable Keyboard Stand
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I had looked at numerous stands for my Yamaha keyboard and didn't want to spend a ton of money for a professional grade stand (at professional prices). With that in mind, the Yamaha PKBX2 Double X Portable Keyboard Stand is a good choice at $29.99. I had seen other stands that were not as sturdy (single X stands)and cost about the same price.
Tips for assembly:
- Don't read the instructions, just look at the enlarged image of the keyboard stand on Amazon and assemble the stand the way it's shown.
- The bolts for attaching the arms and legs come screwed in to the stand. Use the (included )Allen Wrench to remove them and then re-install them when you are putting it together.
PROS:
- Low price.
- Solid, sturdy stand.
- Works for just about any keyboard.
- The stand's height is fully adjustable, and can be easily changed in several seconds - without having to unscrew anything.
CONS:
- There is no way to attach a keyboard to this stand. No screws, bolts or straps are included, even though most (including my Yamaha) keyboards have pre-drilled holes for screwing the board to a stand. The keyboard simply sits on top of the stand. I was VERY disappointed about this.
- The included Allen wrench did not work for one of the bolts. The bolt came screwed in to the stand way too tightly to be removed using the included tool. The Allen Wrench only stripped the bolt, it did not loosen it. Luckily my husband had a better Allen Wrench of nearly identical size, and that one worked. Without it, we would not have been able to loosen the bolt.
