Béla Bartók - Mikrokosmos Volume 1 (Blue) Review

I have started using these pieces with older beginners with a very good result. Trains reading, hand coordination and ear all at once.

The definitive edition (1987) of the piano teaching classic. Includes an introduction by the composer's son Peter Bartók. (English/Spanish/Japanese/Portuguese text). In 1945 Bela Bartók described Mikrokosmos as a cycle of 153 pieces for piano written for "didactic" purposes, seeing them as a series of pieces in many different styles, representing a small world, or as the "world of the little ones, the children". Stylistically Mikrokosmos reflects the influence of folk music on Bartok's life and the rhythms and harmonies employed create music that is as modern today as when the cycle was written. The 153 pieces making up Mikrokosmos are divided into six volumes arranged according to technical and musical difficulty.

Yamaha YPT-200 Portable Keyboard with Portable Grand Function (no AC Adapter) Review

Yamaha YPT-200 Portable Keyboard with Portable Grand Function (no AC Adapter)

I am very happy with this purchase; Some added features would have made this product a fabulous buy though.
cons:
a) The LCD display is not backlit and has a small viewing area. It is extremely difficult to read it.
b) The keyboard body has notations for each key, but is engraved on the body, and it being the same body color, it is impossible to read those notations - even in the day light.
c)It cannot record your voice. It is important if you want to compose and transmit through midi.
d) In the learning section, it would have been helpful if there was a 'slow' playback function too.
Pros:
a) Light weight
b) Grand piano is an excellent feature. Very good for piano learners, until they buy full size piano of their own.
c) Great features.
d) YESS learning suite is simply fabulous.
This model is far better than casio 496, which I was planning to buy earlier.
Great purchase...I like it.

Designed for the beginner or music hobbyist, the Yamaha YPT-200 Portable Keyboard with Portable Grand Function represents the first model in its price point to include complete General MIDI compatibility and functions that, up until recently, could only be found on higher-priced units and professional workstations. With a broad set of features and functions, including Yamaha's Y.E.S.5 Education Suite, this is not only a truly affordable portable keyboard that allows you to play almost anything you can imagine, but that can act as your own personal music teacher as well. The Yamaha Y.E.S.5 features 102 built-in songs for you to learn to play, separated into left- and right-hand parts and providing seven levels of lessons plus a convenient chord dictionary. The three keyboard lessons for each hand allow you to listen and learn the melody or rhythm of a selected song. A timing mode allows you to play the melody or chord by pressing any key using the correct timing. A waiting mode automatically stops the playback of a song until you find the correct note and then continues. Y.E.S.5 includes "lesson grading" that monitors your progress as you practice each of the timing and waiting lessons and gives you feedback. Finally, the chord dictionary shows you how to play chords and tells you which chords you are playing by displaying the notes and chord-name on the LCD screen. The Yamaha YPT-200 also allows you to take advantage of the Internet on a whole new level. This unit includes General MIDI (GM) compatibility with a MIDI in and out connection to your computer giving you access to thousands of MIDI songs and files on the Internet. Yamaha PSR-E413 61-Key Digital Keyboard Review

Yamaha PSR-E413 61-Key Digital Keyboard
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
The PSR-E413 is Yamaha's next addition to their portable keyboard line. It was designed with the new musician in mind, and includes numerous learning tools (the Yamaha Education Suite being the most prominently featured) and "cheater" features (Yamaha Performance Assistance Technology let's you hit the wrong key and still sound correct). Unlike many other beginner level keyboards, however, the PSR-E413 has numerous features that will allow new musicians to grow into semi-professionals without having to buy a new instrument - 504 voices (instruments the keyboard can sound like), 100 arpeggio types, 165 preset styles, 30 preset songs, a pitch-bending wheel, and 5 song/6 track recording. Other common features such as "touch sense" (the keys can sound louder or softer depending on how hard they are pressed), a USB port, sustaining pedal port, and a headphone/output port are also present.
What all of that boils down to is simply this: the E413 is fun to play and sounds great. The price is generally within the acceptable realm for beginners, and the features make it something even those at a semi-professional level would like to play (though, in all honesty, most professionals are going to want a less portable 76+ key unit). After going to numerous music stores and online sources, this model ended up being the best fit for my budget and needs - I highly recommend it.
I have two complaints with the PSR-E413 as packaged. The first is that the music stand (which easily slides into two slots on the top-back of the unit) is made of cheap plastic, and looks like it will break easily. The second is that a number of additional items are needed to fully enjoy this instrument. The first thing you'll need is a plug-in power adapter (I was shocked that the keyboard didn't come with one) unless you want to spend hundreds of dollars on batteries. Next, you'll probably want a keyboard stand (a decent folding one costs anywhere from $20 - $60). An AB-type USB cable is necessary to connect the instrument to your computer and fully realize its potential. After that, a dust cover and case might also interest you. Finally, headphones and a foot switch/pedal should be considered, especially if you like being creative and don't live alone. Yamaha offers a few of these items in a special set called the Survival Kit B (it includes the power adapter, foot switch, headphones, and an extended warranty), but I don't recommend it, as the headphones and pedal it contains are of inferior quality.
Note: This model replaced the PSR-E403 as of May 2008. The two are extremely similar, with the E413 containing a few upgrades (165 vs. 155 styles; 100 arpeggio functions vs 50; etc..). The feel and most of the features of the two, however, are almost the same.

Yamaha PSRE403KIT PSR-E403 61-KEY Midi Portable Grand Yamaha Keyboard With Survival Accessory Kit B Review

Yamaha PSRE403KIT PSR-E403 61-KEY Midi Portable Grand Yamaha Keyboard With Survival Accessory Kit B
Average Reviews:

I don't know much about music, but after tinkering around with "Virtual Piano 2.0" I decided to give the real thing a try.
Browsing online I saw that there were literally dozens of different keyboards out there, many at affordable entry-level prices. So what made me pick this one?
PROS--
EXTRA FEATURES: Sure, you could buy a real basic model for less, but sooner or later you're going to wish you had a few extra sound effects and knobs to tweak. The Yamaha has a nice display with a blue back-light, which makes it easy to see which note you're playing.
SOUND: Plug in some Bose 2 Quiet Comfort headphones (worth every penny, believe me) and you can bang on your keyboard all you want without disturbing whoever is next door to you. The sounds and sound effects that this keyboard produces are really amazing, everything from pianos to church organs to brass, world sounds, guitars, choirs, drums and special effects.
NITPICKINGS--
SIZE: Call me naive, but I thought it would be a little bit smaller, like small enough to fit in a large footlocker. Not quite. Fortunately the box is pretty good if you toss in some extra foam when you ship it. I wouldn't really call this keyboard portable, though. As much as I'd like to bring it to work I'd consider it too much of a hassle and just leave it where it is.
EASE OF USE: The basic actions like playing the keyboard itself and selecting a "voice" to use is really straightforward. However, other actions like transferring data to and from the keyboard to your PC is still a puzzle to me (granted I haven't tinkered with this that much). And as I'm still a beginner, there are lots of functions I have no clue what they do or how to use them, which is good in a way, because that leaves you something to discover later on, giving your keyboard more "replay value".
CONS--
ACCESSORIES: About the only thing that might turn you off is the fact that you need to buy the power adapter, headphones, USB cables to plug into your PC and foot pedal all separately. Or you can just buy a Survival Kit (which comes with a foot pedal that didn't work, cheap Koss headphones, a CD and the all-important power adapter. So whatever the price of this keyboard, make sure you factor in all the accessories you, unfortunately, need to buy separately.
OVERALL--
As this is my first keyboard, I have nothing to compare it to, but I feel like I got my money's worth and I'd definitely say it's worth 4 stars out of 5.

Yamaha YPT210 61 Full-Sized Key Keyboard with 375 tones Review

Yamaha YPT210 61 Full-Sized Key Keyboard with 375 tones
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Untill few weeks back I was an absolute 'monkey with a piano', I decided to take some lessons and my teacher recommended me a Yamaha with a metronome. I grabbed this one from a local Circuit City and I've been quite pleased with it since then.
Pros:
- Nicely priced
- Keys feel good when pressed (doesn't feel like cheap plastic)
- Built in metronome (you need it if you are new to piano/keyboard)
- Decent display that can display the musical notations as you play along
- Great learning features with lots of inbuilt songs (keys are displayed on the screen as you play along - works at your speed and can be split into either right or left hand or both - nice way to learn)
- Around 370 built in voices
- 61 keys (enough to start practicing with)
- DVD included which tells about basics of this piano (features of this piano NOT how to play)
- Light weight if you want to carry it around
- Input for sustain pedal (need to buy it separately)
--Overall nicely designed with other features)
Cons:
- Doesn't sound like piano but then I'm just learning
- You cannot control loudness/softness, I mean in a piano if you strike a key softly the sound produced will be different from when you strike the same key hard (loud), in this Yamaha there is no such distinction, sound produced is always the same irrespective of the way key is pressed (this should not matter much to a beginners)
- Power adapter not included, you need to buy it separately
- Notes(music) for inbuilt songs are not included, it would have been very nice if you can have them - makes practicing easier.
Overall, this is a nice keyboard for beginners but as you practice along and you are serious about learning you will outlive its usability and may need to upgrade to higher model or a piano :-) .... but if are a beginner like me look no further.
Also, if you are serious about learning piano try this book:
'Alfred Basic Adult Piano Course Level 1" with CD.....great book for beginners.. good luck

Portable Grand: One Press To an Amazing Stereo Grand Piano Voice You're never more than a button push away from the most realistic piano sound in portable keyboards today. One press of the Portable Grand button resets the entire keyboard to a stereo-sampled piano – perfect for when it's time to practice. Yamaha is known around the world for the quality of our acoustic pianos and this attention to detail is evident as you enjoy the warmth and clarity of the YPT-210 Portable Grand piano. And of course, the keyboard includes a Sustain Pedal jack on the back for practicing and playing piano pieces.Yamaha Education Suite' (Y.E.S.): Learn How To Play Now! If your kid doesn't think playing keyboard is cool, wait 'til he hears this keyboard! Get the world of Hip Hop and all the hottest sound effects in your Yamaha keyboard. Push the Sound Effect button, hold down a key with your right hand, and you're groovin'!Computer Connectivity: General MIDI (GM) Compatible The music pathway to your computer and the Internet is MIDI. It's the way that keyboards communicate with computers. And because the YPT-210 is both General MIDI (GM) and XGlite compatible, you have access to thousands of MIDI song files on the Internet.Sound Quality: Real Stereo (Not Just 2 Speakers) Some keyboards have two speakers but aren't stereo. Don't be fooled. Just because a keyboard has two speakers doesn't mean that it's truly stereo with two separate amplifiers. All Yamaha Portable Keyboards feature stereo-sampling technology.32 Note Polyphony and 16 Part Multi Timbrel In electronic keyboards, the more sounds made at the same time – polyphony – the more memory is needed. Obviously, more is always better, because too little polyphony can cause dropouts in dense passages of music. Some keyboards at this price point have only 12-note polyphony. The YPT-210 has 32 notes of polyphony and will play back 16 different parts or sounds at once (16-part multi timbrel); enough for the most demanding needs.Auto Accompaniment Styles In addition to the 102 songs mentioned above, the YPT-210 also has auto accompaniment styles that "follow" your playing. Simply select a style of music from the 100 built-in Styles (example Rock), play a single note or chord on the left side of the keyboard and play your melody on the right side. The YPT-210 will create a backup band (bass, drums, strings, guitar etc.) and "follow" you through the song. You can play your songs and try different genres of music. It's both fun and entertaining.Voices The YPT-210 has a large selection of professional sounding Voices called XGlite. The result is amazing sound quality and 375 Voices for you to choose from, offering compatibility with both 3rd party and Yamaha XG software. Just some of the great sounds you'll find in this keyboard are trumpets, violins, electric pianos, harpsichord, organ, guitars and bass guitar.Connectivity The YPT-210 features MIDI In/Out, Sustain Pedal jack and a Headphone jack for private practice.

Yamaha YPT-310 61 Full Size Touch Sensitive Keys with 500 Tones and 32-Note Polyphony Review

Yamaha YPT-310 61 Full Size Touch Sensitive Keys with 500 Tones and 32-Note Polyphony
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Reviewers have a wide range of opinion regarding this keyboard, with some claiming it is terrific and others that it is awful. This note attempts to reconcile these different claims and help potential buyers make the best decision.
1.The YPT-310 is functionally identical to the earlier model YPT-300. The new model changes simply made the device more environmentally friendly ("greener").
2.The YPT-310 is not a piano. A piano doesn't need batteries or an adapter that plugs into an outlet. If you are willing to pay thousands of dollars, you can purchase a piano that produces wonderful sounds, and the key action has a good feel. On the other hand, pianos take up a lot of room. They need to be regularly tuned. They are sensitive to humidity and temperature. Eventually a piano will need to be repaired. The sound you create on a piano can bother your neighbors. In addition, pianos produce only one kind of sound, that which is generated by hammers striking strings. (Some people have done bizarre things to pianos, such as putting tacks into the hammers, but most of us are not going to make these modifications).
Pianists who have played a great deal of piano music, who have no interest in expanding their palette of musical tone color, or who have neither the time nor desire to learn about the controls on a modern synthesizer are unlikely to be happy with the YPT-310. On the other hand, someone who appreciates the tone color of different instruments and is willing to invest a small amount of time learning about synthesizers, will find that this keyboard opens up a whole new world of musical possibilities.
3.Sustain Pedal (foot pedal). The sustain pedal allows the sound to continue after you release a key. This is critically important; without a sustain pedal, you have only half an instrument. This keyboard does not come with a sustain pedal; you will have to purchase it separately. The pedal costs very little, and the cheapest one (about $15) can be glued to a piece of wood to keep it from moving around under foot.
Note: when you power up the YPT-310, the keyboard software "assumes" the foot pedal is not depressed. If the sustain stops when you press the foot pedal, that means you had it depressed when you turned on the keyboard.
4.Sound Quality. There are three ways to produce sounds from the keyboard. You can use the speakers that are part of the device; you can use the headphone jack and the analog signal available there to externally produce sound; or you can use the MIDI interface to have external equipment generate sound based on key press characteristics. The YPT-310 is capable of producing fabulous sounds as well as horrible sounds. The following notes give further details and make some specific suggestions on how to produce the more pleasing sounds.
5.Speakers and Headphones. The built-in speakers have very limited bass response; that is, the low frequency sounds (sounds with a low pitch) are weak. Ironically, some of the most beautiful sounds the YPT-310 can produce are in this low frequency range. The violin (instrument 53), flute (instrument 84), and Vibraphone (instrument 101) are examples of this. In order to hear these sounds, rather than the poor imitation coming from the built-in speakers, you will need headphones or the ability to connect the headphone output jack to a more capable sound system. If you want to listen to some of the beautiful sounds this instrument is capable of, check out the 30 second samples of the music found on the Time album at http://cdbaby.com/cd/peterbaum. The voices from the keyboard were sent via the headphone jack to a computer where they were mixed using multi-track software. Typical of professionally mastered CDs, post processing was performed on some of these tracks using software; for example, echo effects were sometime used and multiple tracks laid down to create ensembles. However, the instrumental voices heard on every single track were generated by this inexpensive keyboard. The quality of the 30 second samples isn't the best possible, since they are in MP3 format, but you will hear some amazing sounds if you are using headphones or a good speaker-driven sound system. The tracks on the CD itself sound better. More information about the YPT-310 voices used on each track of the CD can be found at http://mysite.verizon.net/aesir_research/Peter%20Baum%20-Time-%20Notes.htm).
6.Listening Environment. Your music listening environment can dramatically change how the music is perceived. For example, most cars are not good places to listen to music, especially if you don't use headphones. If you are composing music, your sonic environment can also influence the content of your compositions.
7."I Hate Synthesizers." There are some people who simply hate the sound of synthesizers; they often describe the sound as harsh, mechanical, or cold. In addition, there sometimes is an unnatural, high frequency component to the sound. I agree that some sounds from some synthesizers have these characteristics, and I will even agree that many of the sounds from the YPT-310 sound this way. However, I also found very pleasing sounds among its many voices. Even the sounds that are less than pleasing can be put to good use. I found that some voices, such as the bassoon, could be made warmer by using the built in dual voice function to add an accompanying string section. I also found other sounds that became important compositionally, even though they sounded cold as solo voices.
8.Finding Beautiful Sounds. Because of the way this synthesizer generates different notes based on a sound sample from a real acoustic instrument, the tone quality (sometimes called tone coloration or harmonics) can depend on the pitch of the note. This is also true of real acoustic instruments, the bassoon being a striking example. As I mentioned previously, the violin, vibraphone, and flute sound especially good in their low registers on this keyboard. The "Clavi," "Baritone Sax," and "Fretless Bass 4" voices do too. Some instruments sound best when played in a range that is higher than normal. For example, the Oud sounds like a sweet, tiny bell in its upper register. If you want to produce a variety of useful sounds, you have to be willing to explore the keyboard by sampling different voices in a variety of registers and other settings.
9.The Bottom Line. For around $150, this is an amazing instrument. It can be used to produce professional quality music, if its limitations are respected and its strengths taken advantage of.

Yamaha's 61-key YPT-310 is a great way to get started with keyboard/piano playing, featuring 61 touch-sensitive keys, 482 voices, a music database and stereo speakers. Plenty of fun sounds and an advanced set of helpful learning tools built into the instrument, letting you teach yourself how to play and perform.

Expressive Touch Like a Piano If you're buying a keyboard having piano in mind, you'll want Yamaha's Touch Response feature. On an acoustic piano, striking a key harder will produce a louder sound, striking it softer will produce a softer sound. With Yamaha's "Touch Response" the YPT-310 keyboard responds like an acoustic piano.
Backlit LCD Screen Since you spend a lot of the time at your keyboard looking at the LCD display screen, you might as well get one that's easy to see--like the backlit LCD in the YPT-310.
Portable Grand: One Press to an Amazing Stereo Grand Voice You're never more than a button push away from the most realistic piano sound in portable keyboards today. One press of the Portable Grand button resets the entire keyboard to a stereo-sampled piano--perfect for when it's time to practice. Yamaha is known around the world for the quality of our acoustic pianos and this attention to detail is evident as you enjoy the warmth and clarity of the YPT-310 Portable Grand piano. Three keyboard lessons for each hand:
Lesson One--Listen & learn the melody or rhythm of a selected song
Lesson Two--Timing mode allows you to play the melody or chord by pressing any key using the correct timing
Lesson Three--Waiting mode stops the playback of a song until you find the correct note and then continues
Lesson Grading--monitors your progress as you practice each lessons two and three and gives you a grade.
Chord Dictionary--shows you how to play chords and tells you which chords you are playing by displaying the notes and chord name on the LCD screen.

Sound Effect Kit: Have Some Fun! If your student doesn't think playing keyboard is cool, wait 'til he hears this keyboard! Get the world of Hip Hop and all the hottest sound effects in your Yamaha keyboard. Push the Sound Effect button, hold down a key with your right hand, and you're groovin'!
Sound Quality: Real Stereo with Bass Ports (Not Just 2 Speakers) Some keyboards have two speakers but aren't stereo. Don't be fooled. Just because a keyboard has two speakers doesn't mean that it's truly stereo with two separate amplifiers. All Yamaha Portable Keyboards feature stereo-sampling technology.
Bass Ports--Port on each speaker that adds a powerful impact to bass sound reproduction
Stereo (Not just 2 Speakers)--We all know that stereo sound adds realistic character and spatial depth. But how can you tell if the portable keyboard you're looking to purchase is stereo or not? With Yamaha, the answer is simple. All Yamaha Portable Keyboards are true stereo.

32 Note Polyphony and 16 Part Multi Timbrel In electronic keyboards, the more sounds made at the same time--polyphony--the more memory is needed. Obviously, more is always better, because too little polyphony can cause dropouts in dense passages of music. Some keyboards at this price point have only 12-note polyphony. The YPT-310 has 32 notes of polyphony and will play back 16 different parts or sounds at once (16-part multi timbrel); enough for the most demanding needs.
106 Accompaniment styles and the One Touch Setting The YPT-310 comes with 106 built-in styles, waiting for you to play along with. It's just like having a built-in band. Call up your favorite style of music like Rock, Big Band or Country, press a chord or play Single Finger mode, and the YPT-310 will follow you through a piece of music, providing all of the drums, bass, piano, guitar, horn and string parts for you. And to make it easy and fun, when you select one of the styles, the One Touch Setting function will automatically configure keyboard parameters, such as voice selection and digital effects, to match that selected music style. In addition, you can transfer new Styles into the Flash ROM in the keyboard. Selections can be found at www.yamahamusicsoft.com.
482 General MIDI (GM) and XGLite Voices The YPT-310 has a large selection of professional sounding voices called XGlite. Only Yamaha's best keyboards have the capacity to support and reproduce Yamaha's XGlite voices. The result is amazing sound quality and almost 500 voices for you to choose from, offering even greater compatibility with both 3rd party and Yamaha XG software. For a look at some of the GM/XG music titles available from Yamaha, check out www.yamahamusicsoft.com.
Computer Connectivity and Flash ROM The YPT-310 comes with 102 built-in songs and an interactive lesson system, divided into left and right hand parts, for learning them. In addition, you have the ability to connect to a computer, download more songs from the Internet into the internal Flash ROM, and use all of the Yamaha Education Suite V5 features to help you learn to play them. Yamaha makes it easy to get connected with the new PC button. Now, instead of wading through function menus and fighting through a maze of selections, one button is your expressway to music on the web and your computer. You can connect to the MIDI (Musical Instrument Digital Interface) port on the back with an optional USB-MIDI Interface like the Yamaha UX16. Once connected, you can play your songs into the computer, edit them if necessary, and e-mail them to your friends and family. And with General MIDI (GM) and XGlite compatibility, song data always plays back with the correct sounds.
9 Digital Reverb Plus 4 Chorus Effects Yamaha has long been a world leader in digital signal processing technology. In fact, Yamaha professional audio products are found in most professional recording studios around the world. The YPT-310 takes full advantage of this know-how, giving you an extensive range of nine, top-quality reverb effects that simulate playing in everything from a small room to a large spacious concert hall and four chorus effects that add richness to electric pianos and guitars in particular.

eMedia Essential Keyboard Pack Review

eMedia Essential Keyboard Pack
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
The keyboard shown here looks exactly like the one I purchased from Amazon in June 2008 to get back to keyboard studies after a long downtime period. I still have that keyboard, it has had no problems whatsoever, after all the practice I put into it, it still works fine.
The current version of this keyboard now has some features which were not in the original one, software, etc., so I cannot comment on that, however, from the what the other reviewer said here, the teaching devices are probably just fine. This is the review I wrote in 06.08 about the original keyboard. My knowledge of the keyboard market is now extensive; this review still stands:
"This is an excellent buy and a great keyboard for beginners of all ages or even more advanced players who want an exercise keyboard or one to take with on trips. It's very well built, solid, with full size keys, is very light weight and small enough to store away easily. Has a volume control, sustain button, metromone, and some learning devices. Easy to use, just plug in and play. Comes with a music rack, adapter, and manual. The keys are easy to press, yet the action and feel of the keys is very good and similar to pro level keyboards, so you can play with proper technique on this. The grand piano voice is good and realistic enough for practice, the other voices could be better, but with the piano voice coming in OK, the keyboard is certainly worth the money. I have not used the learning devices, so I can't comment on them, but everything else about this keyboard is very good. I am an advanced guitarist and intermediate keyboardist, I am totally satisfied with this keyboard, you will be too!"

Piano Accordion 17 Keys Blue Review

Piano Accordion 17 Keys Blue
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
To begin, I was given a $20 Schylling children's accordion by a friend and it sounds truly amazing, like I'm in Venice going through the streets. The only problem was that a few notes were seriously screwed up. So I thought, "Great, I'll buy a new one and it'll have keys instead of buttons." I figured you couldn't screw up an accordion and I ordered this one.
The word wrong is not strong enough, the accordion was sent in a very used and beaten up box, with "BL" written in marker on one side. There is a Chinese girl on the box playing the accordion as happily as a child can play accordion with a gun pointed at them. The brand is not D' Luca, but is "Accordion" and as you know, "UC 104 accordion make by specially design and is a new produce for children." You also can't forget, "These instrument is an ideal toy for children". The instruction booklet, or rather the "OPERATION INETRUCTIONS", is a piece of comic genius, for instance: "HOW TO HOLD THE ACCRDION - Put the leather strap on shoulder when playing. The right-hand are employed in manipulating the keys.pushing and pulling are effected by the left wrist during performance and the palm is engaged in supporting the bottom of the instrument In the course of pushing and pulling." Another favorite is, "Press the key with the first and second finger of the right hand, and the two notes 1 and 2 (dol and re) will be produced by successive pushing and pulling bellows in the same manner press all the key exrecise repeat." And everyone knows, "Any kind of finger methed must quick in action than accompaniment are success."
Now to the sound, imagine, if you will, a bus' brakes scraping mixed with the Chinese girl on the box singing and that would be close to the sound. When you push and pull there are supposed to be 2 different notes that get played, not on this accordion - they are basically identical. Usually with an instrument if you play two or three notes together it creates a rich and resounding chord, this accordion sounds like two or three busses are trying to stop before they hit the Chinese girl. The bass buttons are set up to where you generally have to hit two at a time (the instructions say you're supposed to hit 2), this adds depth, but very much so overwhelms the other notes. I was also under the impression that I had ordered the blue accordion with the holographic fish scale stuff on it, but instead got the basic blue (very much so could've been my fault). I just sent an e-mail to the senders requesting a full refund, I hope that goes well, I'll update this review if it's a hassle to return.
All in All - Only buy this product for your child if you hate them and yourself.
I'd rather leave on a high note, so here you go, "The advantage of the Midget 8 Bass isnew-style that it is easy to play for children. Which key and bassare select specific, read, accurate accent, fine timbre, sonosousvolume. It' s bass with pull and push produce different scale arrangement. Io learn the use of fingers methed able to lay a good fundation from now on also for play large one." I certainly feel as if I was purposely screwed over, but my fundation is tremoring with laughter.

USB Teach Me Piano Kit Review

USB Teach Me Piano Kit
Average Reviews:

I wanted a usb midi cable, since my new machine doesn't have a game port and I had been using a gameport midi cable to connect my sythesizer to my computer. This piano kit seemed to fit the bill. And, I liked that for about the cost of a cable I get the piano instruction software for my son basically included.
Before buying, I verified with Voyetra that this cable works both with mac and pc, since I have a PC desktop and Mac laptop. I didn't want a PC only cable. (Mac OSX has built-in compatible USB drivers for this Turtle Beach brand cable.)
Unfortunately, I spent over half a day trying combinations of connecting the cable between 2 different synths and my two computers... I get either computers to send data to control either synth, but got flaky MIDI IN data coming into the computers from every combination. It would send either random data or only "note off" commands but not "note on".
Eventually I gave up, suspecting the cable rather than my synths, computers, or application software. So I emailed voyetra tech support (they have no phone support), who replied on the next business day suggesting I download and install the firmware upgrade from their website. The upgrade worked easily, and now everything works great. (Note that the firmware upgrade needs to be run on a PC not a Mac.)
The included piano instruction software is good, and my son enjoys it, but it uses a lower screen resolution, leading me to believe that it was not written recently. But it has no problem running under XP.
Overall it's a nice product for the money, but the install was frustrating. You might need to know a bit about your synth, MIDI, and how to troubleshoot -- unless you get lucky.

Barcelona Full-Size 30 Key Piano Styled Accordion - Gray with Free Locking Case Review

Barcelona Full-Size 30 Key Piano Styled Accordion - Gray with Free Locking Case
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
As a 32 bass piano accordion, this instrument has bass buttons for major, minor, and seventh chords on Eb, Bb, F, C, G, D, A, and E, making it possible to play most things you'd like to play as a beginner.
I'm not a trainer accordion player, but am a classically trained pianist who was interested in teaching myself the accordion. This instrument seems like it will suit me well for as long as I'm content just "messing around" on the accordion. If I were to play in public in any capacity whatsoever, I would get a better instrument (likely something Italian-made, costing a thousand dollars or more). But for jamming with friends at home, this one is perfect.
You can't beat the price. It's a great value for the money. Highly recommended as a first accordion.
Made in China.

Yes this is a very pretty instrument that we did buy on a whim. My 16 year old son is getting quite good just goofing around. The only hassle was Fed Ex delivery, usually it's UPS and they seem to be superior at least in my neck of the woods

Barcelona Full-Size 30 Key Piano Styled Accordion with Free Locking Case - Black Review

Barcelona Full-Size 30 Key Piano Styled Accordion with Free Locking Case - Black
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
First off, let me be very clear - if you're serious about playing the accordion and you know you'll be doing it for a long time, skip this instrument. On the other hand, if you're a beginning student and you're not sure whether it's going to become a regular part of your life, this accordion is perfect for you.
The Pros:
-Decent-sized Keyboard (not the largest, but also not so small as to be a handicap early on)
-32 Bass Buttons - It's a far cry from the number of bass buttons on most "professional" accordions, but a lot of more expensive student models come with just 12. This gives you a bit more to work with
-Affordable - It's tough to find a new accordion for less
-Comes with a case and straps. The case is pretty wimpy, but it WILL keep the dust off. If you're on a tight budget, the inclusion of these extras is great.
-The accordion smells a little bit like a skating rink. You might consider this a con, but I don't mind the small dose of childhood nostalgia every time I practice.
The Cons:
-This is not the smoothest accordion you'll ever find. It works, and it sounds okay, but it's nowhere near professional quality in feel and sound.
-The free straps are functional, but not super comfortable for long practices. If you can spare another $30, I would highly recommend getting the Hohner padded straps sold elsewhere on Amazon. I'm very glad that I did.
-You will eventually need to upgrade if you find that you love the accordion. On the bright side, you can probably sell this thing on Craigslist for at least 1/2 to 2/3rds of what you paid for it.
In summary, this is a great budget accordion for someone who wants to test the waters and see if the accordion is really for them. If you're very serious about the accordion, though, get something better. As much as I like mine, I'm already shopping for a nice Hohner or something similar to replace it. I'm glad I didn't drop $1000+ on a nice one from the beginning, though.

eMedia Learn To Play Piano & Keyboard Pack with USB Cable Review

eMedia Learn To Play Piano and Keyboard Pack with USB Cable
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I was reluctant to make this purchase after reading so many negative reviews; however, I am now very pleased that I went against what I believed to be my better judgment. I have been dedicating about six hours each week to this product for the last four or five months. When I began, I possessed only the most limited of knowledge with regard to sight reading, keeping time, and rhythm. I now have to admit, though I still have much to learn, that I can play the piano because of this product (although playing well will inevitably take some time). This system worked wonders for me and was much cheaper than the alternative of paying weekly for lessons, yet I must encourage you to read the following.
WARNING:
- Children should not be subjected to this product, as they might experience severe boredom if product is applied directly (some instances of secondhand boredom have been reported in children under 16 that have even come into indirect contact with this product). That is, the lessons are far from engaging and should not be expected to keep a child's attention for even one moment. This might be particularly true when the child has no actual interest in learning how to play the piano, other than appeasing mom.
- The software (and hardware) is, in fact, flakey. This being said, the software and keyboard have always worked for me, even if it did require a few additional steps from time to time. I discovered that one of the primary issues with the keyboard is that it will not work if the latest QuickTime update has not been installed. Considering the speed at which new QuickTime updates are made available, it is easy to see why this might require an update check quite frequently. At one point I also had to visit the company's website to download the latest drivers, since which time I have experienced no further issues. I have also realized that the keyboard will not communicate properly with the program if it is not turned on prior to opening the learning modules. If all else fails...rebooting has always worked.
Even with these seemingly significant drawbacks, my own results with this product prevent me from doing anything other than singing its praises. The cost/benefit ratio, in my opinion, appears to have worked out in my favor. If you are an adult that seriously (serious enough to sit through monotone instructions and no-frill lessons) wishes to learn how to play the piano, I would recommend this product. I would also recommend utilizing these modules with a (not necessarily the one provided in this bundle, although it's not terrible) MIDI controller/keyboard, as there is great benefit to be had from the controller/software interaction and feedback.
